Fresh from securing midweek victories in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa quarterfinals, Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and Igor Gorgonzola Novara are set to battle on Sunday, in the last match of the fifth leg of the second round of the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà regular season.

Ranked first and third in the standings, the teams will meet at the Palaverde, in Villorba, at 18:00 local time (19:00 UTC), in what should be the most exciting match in Italian women's volleyball over the weekend. Conegliano and Novara will meet again by the end of the month, in the Coppa Italia semifinals, in Turin.

The reigning Coppa Italia champions, Conegliano advanced to the semifinals for a tenth straight season after taking down Bergamo in four sets on Tuesday.

The Panthers are the Lega Femminile leaders with 46 points (16 wins, one loss), but were taken down by Numia Vero Volley Milano in the last match of 2025, seeing their gap to the rest of the competition go down after enduring the first setback in their campaign.

"They are a very strong team, with plenty of options, and now that all their players are available, they are even more formidable opponents," head coach Daniele Santarelli said. "We'll need to keep our focus and to be ready to overcome the difficult moments. We'll also need to find ways to impose our game against an opponent that will certainly give their all. Winning points against a direct rival will be very important for us, and we want to start 2026 in a positive way."

Novara, which are set to play in the Coppa Italia semifinals for a second-straight season and have won the tournament on four occasions, booked their tickets to Turin thanks to a big win over Milano.

The Courmayer Cup champions are in third place in the Italian League standings with 39 points (14 wins, four losses), but are the only team inside the top ten to have already completed 18 matches. Their most recent results in the Lega Femminile have been inconsistent, as they dropped points in their last three matches, all of which were played against lower-ranked opponents.

The two sides have met 56 times in Italian League history to date, and Conegliano have a significant lead, having triumphed on 44 occasions. The five most recent duels, however, show more balance, with three victories for the Panthers and two for Novara.

Scandicci face San Giovanni

Ranked second with 43 points (15 wins, two losses), reigning world champions Savino Del Bene Scandicci will benefit from the duel involving Conegliano and Novara if they can get the job done against 14th-placed Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano on Sunday at 17:00 (18:00 UTC).

Undefeated in their last seven Italian League matches, they will end the weekend in a better position if they claim all three points, either by passing or getting closer to Conegliano or by increasing their gap to Novara.

The first two matches of the weekend will be held on Saturday, when ninth-placed CBF Balducci HR Macerata host fifth-placed Milano at 18:00 (19:00 UTC) and 13th-placed Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia meet tenth-placed Honda Cuneo Granda Volley at 20:30 (21:30 UTC).
