After starting their campaign with a road win over Il Bisonte Firenze last weekend, Chieri produced an even more impactful result in the last match of the day on Sunday, taking down title favorites Milano in a five-set (36-34, 19-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-12) battle in front of their home fans.

One of their offseason additions, Hungarian opposite Anett Németh had a brilliant performance, topping all scorers with 29 points (26 kills, two aces, one block). World champion outside hitter Stella Nervini also played a major role in the result, registering 20 points, all in kills.

“We worked so hard for this,” Németh celebrated. “We managed to play a great game last week in Firenze, and today we did it again. We’re very happy.”

Star opposite Paola Egonu produced 24 points (23 kills, one ace) for Milano, ten more than Serbian middle blocker Hena Kurtagić.

Defending champions Conegliano have the same five points in the standings as Chieri after they counted on 26 points (20 kills, three blocks, three aces) from Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak to sweep (25-18, 25-16, 26-24) Honda Cuneo Granda Volley on Sunday in their first home match of the season.

Scandicci and Novara at the top

Ranking above both Chieri and Conegliano in the standings are Scandicci and Novara, which not only won their first two matches, but also did it without dropping points and now accumulate six each. Scandicci got on the court on Saturday, in the first match of the weekend, and took care of business at home, defeating Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 28-26).

Olympic champion opposite Ekaterina Antropova led the team with 24 points (20 kills, two blocks, two aces), but Perugia’s American opposite Kashauna Williams outscored her with 25 (24 kills, one block).

Courmayeur Cup champions Novara played at home and handled Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio in four sets, winning 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-20). American middle blocker Amber Igiede scored 19 points (15 kills, four blocks), two more than Japanese outside hitter Mayu Ishikawa, who registered 16 kills and one block.

Firenze opened their account in the 2025-2026 Italian League with a massive win, taking Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia down in five sets (25-11, 20-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-11) on the road.
