The three points earned with the victory helped Novara pass Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 and get to third place, with 32 points (11 wins, three losses). The team, which was in fifth place before last weekend's matches, now trails only league leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano (40) and second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci (34), which are both currently competing at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in Brazil. Monviso are 12th, with 11 points (four wins, 11 losses).
Russian opposite Tatiana Tolok had her second-straight match with 20 or more points, leading Novara with 17 kills, two blocks and one ace. German outside hitter Lina Alsmeier delivered 18 (16 kills, two blocks) and received the match's MVP award.
"We're happy to have won three important points tonight, but we understand we struggled more than we probably should have," middle blocker Federica Squarcini reflected. "We had some ups and downs on our side, but Monviso deserve a lot of credit for putting us under pressure with their serving, especially from the second set on. But we were able to react and got all three points, which is the most important."
