The teams will enter the court in Rome with different backgrounds in the tournament as while Conegliano will be looking for their eighth overall and seventh straight title, Milano will be appearing for just the second time after taking silver last year.
"Every year it gets more difficult for us, but our goals haven't changed, we are here to win", Conegliano's setter Joanna Wołosz reflected. "Milano are a great team, as we saw in the Champions League a few months ago. We had some changes this offseason, but hopefully we managed to develop good chemistry quickly as this has always been one of our strengths."
The Supercoppa will also feature more than half of the Italian roster that made history by giving the country its first Olympic gold medal less than two months ago in Paris as while setter Orro, opposite Paola Egonu, outside hitter Miriam Sylla and middle blocker Anna Danesi will be with Milano, middle blockers Sarah Fahr and Marina Lubian and libero Monina De Gennaro will try to help Conegliano retain the title.
There will be no shortage of international stars on the court either, with Brazilian outside hitter Gabriela ‘Gabi’ Guimarães, Polish setter Wołosz and Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak playing for Conegliano and Dutch outside hitter Nika Daalderop, Serbian middle blocker Hena Kurtagić and Japanese libero Satomi Fukudome strengthening Milano.
