Italian volleyball fans will have not two, but three days to enjoy 2023-2024 Lega Pallavolo Femminile Serie A Tigotà action this weekend as the league’s 11th round will have matches going on from Saturday to Monday in the country.

Reuniting the teams ranked third and fourth in the standings, the most exciting duel of the weekend, between Savino Del Bene Scandicci and Igor Gorgonzola Novara, will be the last to happen, being scheduled for Monday, at 20:30 local time (19:30 GMT).

The winners of the encounter will be guaranteed to be at least in third place in the Italian League at the end of the weekend as Novara and Scandicci are currently tied with the same campaign of 24 points, eight wins and two losses – Novara are ranked higher due to their better set ratio. A victory could help either team move even higher to second place.

Set to host Monday’s encounter in Firenze, Scandicci seem to have just found their best form in the season during the month of November as they are undefeated in their last nine matches, having won five Italian League and four CEV Champions League encounters, including one against Turkish powerhouse Eczacibasi.

Italian national team opposite Ekaterina Antropova has been a force for Scandicci this season, having produced 161 points in the Lega Femminile for them – she ranks sixth in the league in points scored.

Novara, on the other hand, have dropped from the top of the standings to third in a matter of weeks after they lost to Allianz Vero Volley Milano and Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano – they hope a midweek Champions League victory over Greece’s Olympiakos help them get back into a good rhythm.

Novara have the Lega Femminile’s top scorer, opposite Vita Akimova, who has a total of 230 points, and has produced a minimum of 17 points in each match she played in the Italian League this season.

Novara have a comfortable edge in matchups with Scandicci, having won 19 of the 25 duels between the teams, but there was great balance in the most recent encounters, with them prevailing three times and their opponents on two occasions.
