The 2023-2024 Lega Pallavolo Femminile Serie A Tigotà season can come to an end on Saturday, as Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano are just one win away from triumphing in the best-of-five series of the Scudetto Finals.

After getting back-to-back wins over Savino Del Bene Scandicci this past week, the defending champions now have a 2-1 lead in the series and could get the third victory they need to secure the title on Saturday, at 20:45 local time (18:45 GMT), when the teams meet for a fourth time at the Palazzo Wanny, in Firenze.

Looking for their sixth-straight and seventh overall Italian title, Imoco have recovered from a home loss in the opening match of the series to take control of it with victories last Saturday and Wednesday.

This weekend, they will return to the Palazzo Wanny, where they tied the series one week ago, determined to get a third-straight victory that would make them successfully defend the titles they won in the last five seasons.

These Finals have been crazy. It’s been nice to play matches at this level because you know you have to fight for every ball. Scandicci are strong, they make very few mistakes and they don’t give up. The first three matches have been decided by a few plays here and there and on Saturday it’s going to be the same. We need to limit our errors and impose our game. If we play at our best we can do it, but we’ll need our best version Marina Lubian – Imoco’s middle blocker

With 41 points scored in the last encounter and 102 produced across the three duels against Scandicci, Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak is in excellent form for the defending champions.

Scandicci need to win

For Scandicci, the task in hand is clear, yet complicated – they need to beat Imoco twice in the next four days to secure their first Italian title. For now, however, their focus is only on Saturday’s encounter.

The victory in the opening match of the series and the tight scores in the consecutive defeats show their mission is possible, but some adjustments will be needed after back-to-back losses.

Even if we lost 3-1, match three was our best in the series so far considering the numbers. It’s difficult, but we need to do even better this weekend. Besides that, we have an opponent who did better than us in the key moments, so we’ll need to do something more if we want to have a chance to decide the title in match five. We are aware that we have been playing well, our dream of playing a match five remains alive and we’ll do everything to achieve it. Massimo Barbolini – Scandicci’s head coach

Scandicci’s leading scorer in all three matches of the Italian Finals, opposite Ekaterina Antropova has tallied 91 points so far in the series. She’s also the season’s top scorer with 678 points.
