The winners of Wednesday's encounter will be one victory away from the Italian title

The incredible parity between Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci in the 2023-2024 Lega Pallavolo Femminile Serie A Tigotà Finals will end on Wednesday, when the teams meet for the third time in a week in the series that will determine the Italian champions.

After defeating Scandicci in the tie-breaker on the road on Saturday, repeating what their opponents had done in the opening match of the best-of-five series on Wednesday, Imoco will be back at home on match three, hosting the duel at the Palaverde, in Villorba, at 20:30 local time (18:30 GMT).

Imoco’s road win over the weekend was immensely important in the team’s plans of claiming the Italian title for a sixth straight time as had Scandicci prevailed, their opponents would need just another triumph in three matches to become the champions. Now, Imoco will be twice at home until the end of the series in case it needs all five matches to be decided.

With 61 points scored across the first two matches of the Finals, opposite Isabell Haak has been Imoco’s main offensive weapon against Scandicci.

On Saturday, Imoco managed to take the win despite having given away 35 points in errors. They know that this is something they will need to improve going forward.

After the first two matches, we’re starting it over with the series absolutely even. Scandicci were extremely dominant in the regular season and we didn’t take it as a surprise when they won the first match. The first two matches were incredibly tight, but the third could be entirely different, that’s what happens in the playoffs. We’re playing well, but we know we can do better and on Wednesday we’ll probably need it to win. Daniele Santarelli – Imoco’s head coach

Scandicci need another road win

Scandicci did what many considered impossible and defeated Imoco on the road at the start of the series, but now in order to win the Italian title for the first time, they will need to do it again and Wednesday will give them an opportunity to do it.

One of the team’s main difference-makers in the playoffs has been opposite Ekaterina Antropova, who scored 65 points in the two matches against Imoco, having surpassed Paola Egonu to rank first among the Lega scorers, now with 652 points.

In a series in which four of the ten sets played were decided by the minimum difference of two points, Scandicci want to be ready to capitalize on the opportunities they have.

When two teams of this caliber play, the difference is always in the details. Sometimes, making one mistake you shouldn’t, can make things very complicated. Imoco will push us a lot, so we need to take advantage of every opportunity we have. We had some really tight sets and it’s been a great series, so I think the details will continue to be the difference. Britt Herbots – Scandicci’s outside hitter
