Four of the five individual rankings in Italy’s Lega Pallavolo Serie A1 Femminile are led by Igor Gorgonzola Novara players ahead of the 15th round of matches this weekend. Novara’s Turkish opposite Ebrar Karakurt tops three of the charts and will have another opportunity to further improve her statistics when her team welcome Wash4Green Pinerolo on Saturday, January 14.

Karakurt has already tallied as many 286 points over 14 matches played and tops the best scorers’ ranking, 35 points clear of e-work Busto Arsizio’s Brazilian outside hitter Rosamaria Montibeller. She is also 56 points clear of Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano’s Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak.
Karakurt’s best single-match tally so far this season was achieved in Novara’s encounter with Pinerolo in October, when the Turkish athlete produced as many as 34 points towards a five-set away victory. A couple of weeks ago, Karakurt reached the 30-point mark again as Igor Gorgonzola closed the first half of the regular season with a five-set loss at Cuneo Granda S.Bernardo.
The 22-year-old Turk delivered 235 of her points in offence, which puts her on top of the best attackers’ ranking too, ahead of Rosamaria with 213 kills and Trasportipesanti Casalmaggiore’s American outside Alexandra Frantti with 205 successful spikes.
The best servers’ chart is also headed by Karakurt. She has piled up 26 aces so far, two more than Savino Del Bene Scandicci’s 19-year-old Russian opposite Ekaterina Antropova and eight more than Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri’s French outside Helena Cazaute.
Another Novara player, 22-year-old libero Eleonora Fersino leads the best receivers’ ranking. The young Italian handled 155 opponent serves successfully - 11 more than Pinerolo’s libero Ilenia Moro and 32 more than Volley Bergamo 1991’s American outside Khalia Lanier. Fersino is also the league’s best receiver in terms of success rate. 54.96% puts her ahead of all the other players in the league with eight attempts or more.
The only chart that is not led by a Novara player is topped by a Pinerolo athlete. Italian middle Anna Gray is currently the best blocker of the league with 51 stuffs, followed by Casalmaggiore’s Dutch middle Juliet Lohuis with 46 and Bergamo’s Croatian middle Bozana Butigan with 45.
