One of the most dominant teams in women's volleyball worldwide, Conegliano are trying to level Turkish giants VakıfBank Istanbul as the most successful club at the Club World Championship. The winners of the 2019, 2022 and 2024 editions of the tournament, the Italians are looking for a fourth title in Brazil, which would tie the Turkish victories in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2021.
One of the team's main stars, Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak helped Conegliano take a confident first step in their world title defense, producing 21 points (15 kills, four aces, two blocks) against the Valkyries. Outside hitters Zhu Ting and Gabi came next, with 13 and 11 points registered, respectively.
"It was a perfect start for us in the tournament," setter Joanna Wołosz said. "We love the Brazilian fans, and it was amazing to play here with this crowd. We almost felt like home."
