Pool play will end in São Paulo on Thursday, with Egyptians and Americans fighting to depart with a victory at 10:00 local time (13:00 UTC) and Italians and Brazilians playing to finish first ahead of the semifinals at 13:30 (16:30 UTC).
Up-and-coming opposite Merit Adigwe made the most of the opportunity to get on the court on Wednesday and led Conegliano's scoring efforts with 19 points (16 kills, three aces). Slovenian outside hitter Fatoumatta Sillah had a solid all-around performance and added 14 points, with nine kills, three aces and two blocks.
Repeating what she had done in the team's debut, opposite Eassa Toqaallah was Zamalek's most productive player against Conegliano, ending the match with 11 points (ten kills, one block). Croatian outside hitter Matea Magdić followed with seven (six kills, one block).
The second day of matches in Brazil will be completed later on Wednesday, with hosts Osasco São Cristovão Saúde facing Italy's Savino Del Bene Scandicci at 20:30 local time (23:30 UTC) in Pool A.
