With that, Scandicci start ahead, earning their first three points in pool play. The other two sides in the pool, Brazil's Osasco São Cristovão Saúde and Peru's Club Alianza Lima, will complete the match schedule on the first day of matches in São Paulo, meeting at 20:30 local time (23:30 UTC).
Strong both at the net and at the service line, the 22-year-old Antropova helped Scandicci dominate Zhetysu with a 19-point performance, produced with 15 kills and four aces. German middle blocker Camilla Weitzel, who ended the match with 12 points (eight kills, two blocks, two aces), and American outside hitter Avery Skinner, who tallied ten (eight kills, two blocks), also got to double digits in scoring.
"I'm very excited to be here because it's the first time for the club and for me," Antropova reacted. "We hope we can show our best game. We absolutely love Brazilian fans, and I hope they enjoy our matches. Tomorrow we're going to play Osasco, and I'm sure it's going to be a lot of fun."
Also making their Club World Championship debut, Zhetysu had opposite Tatyana Nikitina as their leading scorer with 11 points (ten kills, one block), three more than team captain and middle blocker Kristina Anikonova and outside hitter Kristina Belova.
