Outside hitter Britt Herbots will try to help Belgium qualify for the Volleyball Nations League 2025

The final edition of the Volleyball Challenger Cup is set to take place from July 4-7 in Asia, with the Chinese city Linyi and the Philippine capital Manila hosting the men’s and women’s events, and the rosters for both tournaments have now been released (subject to eligibility check to be conducted by the FIVB).

Featuring eight national teams in each gender, the event, which will unfold in a single elimination format, will qualify the winners for the 2025 Volleyball Nations League, the first edition of the tournament that will count on 18 men’s and women’s teams.

Set to play at home, the Chinese men’s national team will have outside hitter Zhang Jingyin as a key player in the VCC. Their opponents in the quarterfinals, Mexico will count on outside hitter and team captain Mauro Fuentes to cause an upset.

Opposite Ferre Reggers will be the main name of the Belgian team that will start their campaign in Linyi against Croatia, who will have their own high-scoring opposite in Petar Đirlić. Ukraine and Chile, who will face each other in the quarterfinals, will have outside hitters Evheniy Kisilyuk and Dusan Bonacic as their key players. The quarterfinals will also have a duel between Olympic-bound Egypt of opposite Reda Haikal and Qatar of setter Borislav Georgiev.

Volleyball Challenger Cup – Match Schedule

In the women’s tournament, Belgium will have scoring machine outside hitter Britt Herbots available in their opening match, against continental rivals Sweden. The Swedish won’t feature star opposite Isabelle Haak, but will have her sister, outside hitter Anna, in their squad.

Captained by talented libero Shara Venegas, Puerto Rico will face Olympic-bound Kenya, of charismatic and productive opposite Sharon ‘Chumba’ Kiprono. Also in the quarterfinals, Czechia and team captain Michaela Mlejnkova will go against Argentina and setter Victoria Mayer. The fourth quarterfinal duel will reunite Asian rivals the Philippines, of setter Julia ‘Jia’ De Guzman, and Vietnam, of popular outside hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
