France and Bulgaria secured top spot in Pools A and D on Monday as the final day of pool play completed the 16-team field for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship in Doha, Qatar. Poland, Romania and Pakistan also finished the preliminary phase with victories, setting the stage for the start of the knockout rounds Tuesday.
France and Bulgaria join Brazil, Iran and Italy as the five pool winners advancing to the Round of 16. Spain, Romania, Tunisia, Venezuela, India, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Egypt, Argentina, Poland and Türkiye complete the knockout field, with all eight matches scheduled Tuesday across Aspire Ladies Hall and Al Arabi Sports Hall.
France completed pool play with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-15) win over Venezuela, but only after being pushed hard in an opening set that went beyond regulation. Once France came through that 27-25 contest, the match shifted quickly, with the French allowing just 29 points over the next two sets to close out their third victory in Pool A.
