*2026 BU17 Competition Format
Following the decision of theFIVB Board of Administration on 14 August 2026, the competition format has been adjusted tofive pools of four teams** for the first stage of the championship.The 20 participating teams are split into five single round-robin pools (A, B, C, D and E) of four teams each.
16 teams – the five pool winners, the five pool runners-up, the five third-placed teams and the best-ranked fourth-placed team – advance to the eighthfinals. Their placement and records determine their positions in the single-elimination bracket as per the combined team ranking system.The eight winners of the eighthfinals advance to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals.All eliminated teams’ final standings after each phase will be determined as per the combined team ranking system.
The two semifinal winners advance to the gold medal final, while the two losing teams compete in the bronze medal match.*
