Many top-level international stars have joined the teams for this prestigious competition and are set to lock horns in thrilling do-or-die battles during the quarterfinals on Wednesday and Thursday, the semifinals on Saturday, and the medal matches on Sunday. Each of the four competition days will offer two matches on its program, serving off at 15:00 local time (08:00 UTC) and 19:00 local time (12:00 UTC).
One of the two teams representing the host nation Indonesia – Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi – will open the tournament on Wednesday with a game against Kazakhstan’s Jaiyq Oral. Bhayangkara Presisi’s new additions – Slovenia’s Rok Mozic, Cuba’s Robertlandy Simon and Mali’s Noumory Keita – are automatically turning the team into one of the tournament’s favorites. The club medaled at two of the previous three editions of the Asian club championship, with silver in 2023 and bronze in 2024. Jaiyq, on the other hand, have secured stellar presence from Iran’s Amirhossein Esfandiar.
Wednesday’s second quarterfinal will offer a duel between Qatar’s Al-Rayyan and Korea’s Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, with a big power clash of high-caliber strikers like Czechia’s Michal Finger and China’s Jiang Chuan. Al-Rayyan are the defending champions from last year, and also have two silvers and a bronze in their continental collection, while Skywalkers will try to get Korea back on the Asian podium for the first time in a quarter of a century.
Thursday’s quarterfinal program will get underway with Japan’s JTEKT Stings Aichi facing Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima 3M Films. Aichi are coming in from a strong season in Japan’s SV.League, where the squad around Kentaro Takahashi, France’s Stephen Boyer, USA’s Torey DeFalco and Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli earned bronze. Nakhon Ratchasima will be keen to secure Thailand’s first ever medal in the history of the competition. So far, the country’s best achievements consist of three fourth-place finishes, including that of Nakhon Ratchasima themselves in 2021.
The last semifinalist will emerge from the encounter between Iran’s Foolad Sirjan Iranian and Indonesia’s Jakarta Garuda Jaya. One of the two home teams will challenge the 2021 and 2024 Asian champions, who have now been joined by one of the rising super stars in international volleyball – Bulgarian outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov.
