2025 AVC Men’s Champions League winners Al-Rayyan secured a spot in this year’s edition, which will be played in Pontianak, Indonesia from May 13 to 17 and will be streamed live on VBTV. The Qatari team won the zonal WAVA (West Asian Volleyball Association) Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Kuwait on Saturday and qualified for the premier continental club competition.

Al-Rayyan cruised through the tournament in Kuwait undefeated in five matches played. They produced a 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 13-25, 25-18) victory over Bahrain’s Dar Kulaib in Saturday’s final to claim the zonal crown for the fourth consecutive time.

In its semifinal on Thursday, the Qatari team celebrated a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20) win over the host club Kuwait, while Dar Kulaib delivered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-13) sweep of the all-Bahraini semifinal against Al Ahli Manama. The bronze went to Kuwait, who pleased the home crowd with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-21) shutout of Al Ahli in the third-place playoff.

Alisson Melo, Al-Rayyan’s 32-year-old Brazilian outside hitter, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 WAVA Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.
