Some of the biggest national club leagues around the world ended this week and we saw new champions being crowned. Among them were Fenerbahçe Opet, who triumphed in the Turkish Women’s Sultanlar Ligi, and Jastrzębski Węgiel, who topped the podium in the Polish Men’s PlusLiga.

The week also saw another team book its place in the 2023 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship – it was Brazil’s Dentil Praia Clube, who triumphed in the South American Club Championship in Uberlândia one week after winning the country's Superliga.

Italian fans will have to wait for a few more days to know their national champions as both series that will determine the winners of the country’s leagues are tied 2-2 and will require a fifth and decisive match. The Lega Pallavolo Serie A1 Femminile will end first, with Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and Vero Volley Milano meeting on Monday, two days before Cucine Lube Civitanova and Itas Trentino clash in the SuperLega Credem Banca.

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour was in Madrid for a men-only Futures tournament this week and the Spanish team of Javier Huerta/Alejandro Huerta took gold in front of their home fans. There was some action on the sand too with the Preliminary Phase of the CEV Nations Cup in Gstaad and a stop of the NORCECA Continental Tour in Cuba.

Here’s our summary of what happened around the world over the last few days:
