Today, on Olympic Day, Volleyball World joins the FIVB, the FIVB Volleyball Foundation and millions around the world in celebrating sport and everything the Olympic spirit stands for.
The theme for Olympic Day this year is “Let’s Move?” - a simple call to action: get active, bring someone with you and make movement part of your day. Whether it’s on a court, on the sand or in the park, movement is what connects us - and few sports capture that better than volleyball.
At the Olympic Games Paris 2024, volleyball and beach volleyball were right at the heart of the action. Beach volleyball delivered unforgettable moments at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, while volleyball lit up the South Paris Arena 1. But it wasn’t just about the matches. Over 300,000 fans took part in the Volleyball Experiences, hosted by the Volleyball Foundation at both venues. These activations gave fans another way to connect with the sport, from fun challenges to meet-and-greets with international stars.
Volleyball is about connection, collaboration - anywhere, anytime, with anyone. Whether you’re serving for the gold medal at the World Championships, or passing a ball around with friends, you’re part of a movement, the Global Volleyball Movement.
With over 800 million people already engaged, and a clear goal to reach 1.6 billion in the next Olympic cycle, volleyball is growing fast. That growth is driven by the FIVB’s Strategic Vision 2032. This is a long-term commitment to making volleyball more accessible, more inclusive and more impactful in communities around the world.
So this Olympic Day, we invite you to join in. Grab a ball, meet a friend and play volleyball!
