The year 2025 is about to end, closing what has been a spectacular period for women's volleyball at the international level. The 2025 international season came with big expectations, following the historic success and excitement of the Paris 2024 Olympics, and left nothing to desire, delivering two major international tournaments of the highest caliber.
The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) had a new format in its seventh edition, presenting an expanded field of 18 teams, and saw Italy repeat as the champions in Łódź, Poland, lifting the trophy for a second-straight season and for the third time in four years.
More was to come just a few months later, between August and September, with the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship inaugurating its 'new era' of biannual tournaments and expanded 32-team field with an incredibly successful edition in volleyball-loving Thailand, which had Italy confirming their status as the top team in the world and returning to the top of the podium after 23 years to claim their second world title.
Extraordinary individual performances were delivered throughout the season, and to honor the incredible level of play, Volleyball World's social media team produced a ranking of the ten best women's volleyball players of 2025:
