Defending champions Omaha Supernovas advanced to the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation Finals with the best campaign as the regular season of the second edition of the American League was completed this weekend.

As the top-ranked team, the Supernovas will face the Indy Ignite, who advanced in fourth place, on Friday, in Las Vegas, in the semifinals. The other spot in Sunday’s gold medal match will be contested by second-placed Atlanta Vibe and third-placed Orlando Valkyries.

The Supernovas entered the last week of the regular season needing to win one of their two matches to clinch the top seed ahead of the playoffs. They accomplished their goal in the first opportunity they had, beating the Grand Rapids Rise 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21) on the road on Friday.

Star outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller led the Supernovas to their key win, producing a team-high 20 points, with 18 kills, one block and one ace. Fellow outside hitter Reagan Cooper also had a solid night, registering 16 points, with 15 kills and one block.

Already guaranteed in first place, the Supernovas visited the Vibe on Sunday and triumphed 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23).

“It was good for our group,” head coach Laura Kuhn said. “We knew this road trip was going to be challenging and we were ready to make whatever adjustments we needed to. I’m proud of the way we responded.”

Before Sunday’s encounter, the team from Atlanta confirmed the second seed for the playoffs with a 3-2 (26-28, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-10) road win over the Ignite on Thursday.

The third-best team in the regular season, the Valkyries got a pair of road wins to end their campaign with 18 victories and ten losses. They defeated the Rise 3-2 (19-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-14) on Thursday and topped the Vegas Thrill 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19) on Friday.

After falling to the Vibe on Thursday, the Ignite returned to action on Saturday and lost again, this time to the San Diego Mojo, 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19).

The final week of the regular season also had the Mojo beating the Columbus Fury 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) on Thursday and the Fury defeating the Thrill 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 15-5) on Sunday.
