Just two days after the Netherlands and Sweden earned the first Olympic tickets in beach volleyball for Los Angeles 2028 (other than those for hosts USA), the contest for the next two begins in Africa. The second tournament that will issue tickets to next year’s Olympic Games is set to start on Tuesday in Egypt. On Sunday, the women’s and the men’s gold medalists of the 2026 CAVB Beach Volleyball African Championships in on Abu Haif Beach in the Sidi Bishr area of Alexandria will be crowned continental champions and will secure Olympic quotas for their countries.
21 women’s and 23 men’s pairs representing 24 different countries are entering the competition in Egypt, chasing their Olympic dream for LA 2028. In each gender, they are split into six single round-robin pools of four or three teams each. The pool winners, the pool runners-up and the two best-ranked third-placed duos will advance to the eighthfinals, while the remaining four third-placed teams will go through a sixteenthfinal round to fill up the two remaining vacancies among the last 16. Quarterfinals, semifinals and medal matches will follow to determine the final tournament standings.
