The fight for the top spot of the standings in the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season had interesting developments this week, with league leaders Omaha Supernovas suffering an unexpected defeat and second-placed Atlanta Vibe winning twice to close the gap between the teams.

At the end of the 14th week of the regular season, the Supernovas continue in first place with 16 wins and six losses, but now see the Vibe much closer in second place, with 16 victories and eight defeats. Currently in seventh place, the Mojo were the ones to take the defending champions Supernovas down on Saturday, producing the most surprising result of the week. Playing at home at the Viejas Arena, the team from California won 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 27-25, 25-13), ending a four-match winning streak of their opponents.

Opposite Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani was huge for the Mojo, leading the team with 20 points (13 kills, four blocks, three aces), while middle blocker Ronika Stone added 19, with 11 kills and an impressive eight blocks. The Supernovas had star outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller as their most productive player, with 16 points (14 kills, two blocks).

Before falling to the Mojo, the Supernovas started their road trip West on Thursday, visiting the Thrill, and came out on top, winning 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24).

Vibe clinch playoff spot

Besides closing the gap to the Supernovas and extending their winning streak to ten matches, the Vibe had another reason to celebrate this week as they confirmed their presence in the Pro Volleyball Federation playoffs.

The team from Georgia had an early start to their week, beating the Mojo 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-25, 15-12) on Tuesday on the road, and faced another trip to face the Valkyries on Saturday, returning home with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 25-14) victory.

Outside hitters Leah Edmond and Micaya White, who produced 32 and 27 points respectively across the two matches, were key players for the Vibe in their road trip.

Three other matches were held over the week in the league, with the Valkyries beating the Rise 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-18, 25-15) on the road on Thursday, the Rise fighting back to top the Ignite 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11) on the road on Saturday and the Fury downing the Thrill 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21) on the road on Sunday.

Next week, seven matches will be held between Wednesday and Saturday in the league.
