As many as five slots for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 will be up for grabs when the continental beach volleyball championships serve off this month across various venues in the five confederations.
The continental championships represent the first opportunity for national beach volleyball teams to qualify for the LA28 Olympic Games under the current international cycle. One pair per gender from each of the five continental championships will earn a quota place for the Olympic Games, accounting for five qualification places in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Europe will start off the continental championships with the 2026 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship (EuroBeachVolley) running from 12 to 16 August in Stare Jabłonki, Poland. It will be the first time Poland will be hosting the senior European Championship.
The 2026 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Senior Championships will feature 24 men’s and 24 women’s duos in Alexandria, Egypt from 17 to 23 August.
The 2026 AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Championships will take place in Shangluo, China, from 2 to 6 September 2026, bringing together 24 teams per gender from across Asia and Oceania to compete for the continental titles as part of the competition calendar towards LA28.
The crème de la crème of South America will converge on Joao Pessoa, Brazil from 3 to 6 September with 16 teams per gender contesting for the sole ticket to LA28.
The 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled to take place from 4 to 9 November in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico featuring 16 teams per gender. USA already has one pair per gender guaranteed a slot in the 2028 Olympic Games by virtue of being hosts.
