Kim Yeon Koung was one of the subjects of modern French painter David Jamin’s portraits featured in the recently concluded exhibition entitled “Le Dandy de Provence” held in the prestigious The Hyundai Seoul.

The exhibition showcased 130 original paintings, 100 of which are the artist’s latest works in 2022. The Seoul exhibit unveiled Jamin’s unpublished collection featuring 18 portraits of Korea’s well-known personalities, including the volleyball superstar, Cannes-winning director Park Chan-Wook, football star Son Heung-Min, Oscar-winning actor Youn Yuh-jung and Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yuna.

Despite announcing her retirement from national duty after finishing fourth at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Kim opted to continue her career playing for Incheon-based Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders in the domestic league.

The 35-year-old former captain took on a new role as team advisor for the Korean national squad. She oversaw the team training on Monday led by assistant coach Han Yoo-mi at Jincheon National Training Centre as they prepare for the Volleyball Nations League, the Olympic qualifier and the Asian Games.

“I was excited when I first got here and was looking forward to seeing the players,” Kim said to the local media. “I am happy that I put on the Taegeuk mark again. I will play a role between the players and coaching staff and also guide foreign and Korean coaching staff in the direction that they should be headed.”
