In February, the Japanese Volleyball Association and head coach Kumi Nakada announced the women’s national team roster for the 2021 season, which included left-handed opposite Nagaoka. She participated in the Volleyball Games - Tokyo 2021, a test event ahead of the Olympic Games when Japan took on China at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
Following that event, Nagaoka accompanied the Japan team to the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy, but did not play due to a knee injury. She also missed out on the recently completed Olympics in her home country.
“My body is recovering steadily and I hope I can contribute to the volleyball world as an athlete and a member of the Hisamitsu team,” said Nagaoka, confirming that she will play for the Japanese club in 2021/22. “I look forward to being on the court this season.”
