The 19th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship now has its eight participating teams confirmed. From 8 to 13 December, the Wlamir Marques Multi-Sports Gymnasium in São Paulo will welcome clubs from South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The participants and pool allocation were announced this Tuesday (8). This will be the fourth time São Paulo has hosted the competition, following the 1991, 1994 and 2025 editions.

Brazil Takes the Court

Host club and 2012 world champions Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde will be seeking their second title. According to the roster released by the club, the squad includes Italian setter Marta Bechis, Polish opposite Magdalena Stysiak and Italian outside hitter Anastasia Guerra.

Brazil's second representative is SESI Vôlei Bauru, which secured its place by winning the South American Club Championship for the first time, held in Lima, Peru, in February. The team from the state of São Paulo may feature setter Dani Lins, middle blocker Diana Duarte and American opposite Morgahn Fingall.

Another South American Club

South America will have a third club in São Paulo. Third-placed at the South American Club Championship, Club Alianza Lima will compete at the Club World Championship for the second consecutive year after finishing sixth in the 2025 edition. Six-time Peruvian champions and two-time South American runners-up, the team is expected to include Venezuelan setter María Marín, American opposite Taylor Fricano and Argentine outside hitter Daniela Bulaich.

A Rivalry That Runs Through the Season

Brazil and Türkiye have built one of the most consistent rivalries in women's volleyball in recent years, and it will open a new chapter in São Paulo. Both European teams to qualify are Turkish.

The most successful club in the tournament's history, with four titles (2013, 2017, 2018 and 2021), VakıfBank SK enters the Club World Championship after winning the CEV Champions League. Based in Istanbul, the team features Serbian opposite Tijana Bošković, a two-time club world champion; Russian outside hitter Marina Markova; and Turkish players Zehra Güneş, a middle blocker, and Naz Aydemir Akyol, a setter.

The other Turkish club is Eczacıbaşı Peron Istanbul, three-time world champions (2015, 2016 and 2023) and European runners-up this season. The expected roster includes Italian opposite Ekaterina Antropova, an Olympic champion and MVP of the most recent Club World Championship; Turkish setter Elif Şahin; Turkish outside hitter Ebrar Karakurt; and Japanese outside hitter Mayu Ishikawa.

Continental Powers

Three-time Asian champions and nine-time Japan SV.League winners NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki will compete at the Club World Championship for the second time. Sixth in the 2024 edition, the Japanese team qualified for São Paulo through the Asian Volleyball Confederation Champions League and features Japanese middle blocker Nichika Yamada and setter Tsukasa Nakagawa, as well as Italian opposite Sylvia Nwakalor.

Asia will have a second representative. Kazakhstan's Zhetysu VC returns to the tournament after finishing seventh in the 2025 edition, also held in São Paulo. Eleven-time national league champions, the club's squad includes Serbian setter Marija Miljević, Kazakh opposite Perizat Nurgergenova and Chinese outside hitter Yiwen Miao.

Completing the line-up is Egypt's Al Ahly SC, the reigning African Club Championship winners. Ten-time continental champions and 42-time Egyptian League champions, Al Ahly SC will make their FIVB Club World Championship debut. Coached by Brazilian Paulinho Milagres since July 2025, the team is expected to feature Egyptian national team players including setter Dana Shawky, outside hitter Zeina Elalamy and libero Nada Waliid.

Competition Format

The eight clubs have been divided into two pools of four. The pool phase will take place on 8, 9 and 10 December, with each team playing every other team in its pool once. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, 12 December, with the winner of each pool facing the runner-up from the other. The bronze-medal match and final will be played on Sunday, 13 December.

Each pool-phase day will have two sessions, with two matches per session. Tickets are sold by session, allowing spectators to watch two matches with a single ticket.

The championship is expected to deliver top-level matches and closely contested rallies. Every point will carry decisive weight as the clubs pursue the medals and, above all, the title of the world's best team.
