Eda’s #TheBestOf2021 nomination echoes in Turkey

Eda Erdem Dundar was announced as the number 11 player in Volleyball World’s countdown of the 12 best players of 2021 and the news immediately echoed in her native Turkey.

Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Ustundag congratulated the captain of the Turkish national team on the nomination and wished her many more great victories and achievements. “Our beloved Eda Erdem has made us all proud,” he said in a social media post.

Eda’s club, Turkish powerhouse and 2021 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship bronze medallists Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul, also saluted their captain with a tweet.

“I wish the whole volleyball family a new year with happiness and success,” said Eda in her retweet.

On the day after the middle blocker’s nomination was announced, she led Fenerbahce to the Turkey Cup semifinals with a 73% success rate in attack in an emphatic straight-set quarterfinal against Aydin Buyuksehir Belediyespor.
