Get ready for a day of world-class beach volleyball on October 19th at the 2nd Annual Newport Beach Volleyball Invitational, where top talent in the sport takes over Blackie's Beach at the Newport Pier for an unforgettable competition. This unique 4x4 tournament brings a fresh twist to the traditional format, promising even more fast-paced action and thrilling teamwork. Featuring eight teams—four men’s and four women’s—composed of the best athletes in the sport, including 20 Olympians, AVP superstars, and Hall of Famers, the event is set against the stunning backdrop of Newport Beach’s iconic coastline. The tournament will be hosted by notable figures including AVP Hall of Famer Steve Obradovich, Kevin Martin of Eagle Four Partners (Owners of Balboa Bay Club, VEA Newport Beach, Pendry Newport Beach, and Pasea Hotel Huntington Beach), and Mario Marovic of Lounge Group (Owners of local Orange County restaurants including Malarky’s Irish Pub, Stag Bar, and Dory Deli). The tournament will be taking place directly on the beach in front of Blackie’s by the Sea adjacent to Newport Pier.
The event will showcase a lineup of top-tier athletes, including Taylor Crabb, Taylor Sander, Kelly Cheng, Sara Hughes, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, Brandie Wilkerson, Phil Dalhausser, among others, as they bring their exceptional skills to this invitational tournament. Competing for a prize totaling $250,000 – the largest prize ever offered in a one-day beach volleyball tournament in the US.
The Newport Beach 4-Man Volleyball Invitational will benefit the Orange County Youth Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization comprised of OC business and education professionals devoted to improving young lives through athletics and education. The event is elevated by the gracious support of esteemed sponsors including the Balboa Fun Zone, Balboa Bay Resort & Club, Guinness, the city’s premier marketing organization Visit Newport Beach, and many more. Their invaluable contribution enriches every facet of the tournament, enhancing both the experience for attendees and the overall impact on the Newport Beach community.
This event is free and open to the public, with standing room and seating on the sand. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own beach chairs for a comfortable experience. For those looking to elevate their day, VIP tickets are available for purchase, providing access to the premium center-court club with unobstructed views of both courts, a private VIP bar, beverage sampling, vendor giveaways, and more, all in the comfort of the shaded platform venue. Limited public parking will be available, and attendees are encouraged to carpool or use alternative transportation options such as Uber. Bicycle parking will also be provided. The afterparty at Stag Bar will start at 5:30 PM and provides a chance to mingle with your favorite players. This is sure to be a party you won’t want to miss!
