Captain Joanna Wolosz of Poland ready to mastermind Imoco Volley Conegliano again in the 2021-22 season.

Imoco Volley Conegliano are on the starting line for yet another terrific season, as they embark on their quest to defend their Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile title in the brand new edition of the world's premier domestic competition which kicks off next month.

But Conegliano are not just the reigning Italian champions. They're also the reigning world club champions and now the reigning European champions after spectacularly grabbing that all-elusive Champions League gold last season.

And though for yet another season they have a very heavy load on their shoulders, they certainly have the human resources to pull anything through.

Although she didn't play for her national team of Poland in 2021, arguably one of the world's best setters, Joanna Wolosz, will be back to get the fans excited as she defines Conegliano's playmaking.

The end recipients of the 31-year-old setter's decision will be the striking forces of Conegliano - and there's probably no one in the world more formidable than Paola Egonu.

On the outside, however, Miriam Sylla will have competition for a spot in the starting six, with the addition this season of USA's Kathryn Plummer and Megan Courtney (to replace their fellow-Americans from last season Kim Hill and Chiaka Ogbogu).

Ogbogu's void in the middle will be filled by stalwarts Robin de Kruijf of the Netherlands and Sarah Fahr, alongside newly-acquired Hristina Vuchkova of Bulgaria.

And, of course, doing all the 'dirty work' in the back to keep feeding the attackers, who better to have on your side than libero Monica de Gennaro.

How such a team can ever be beaten is beyond imagination - and indeed their winning streak across all competitions now stands at 63 matches; Conegliano have not lost since December 2019 and it's hard to see who can stop them.

The Regular Season of the Italian Women's League opens on October 10, 2021, with Conegliano embarking on their campaign at home to newly-promoted Megabox Vallefoglia. The Regular Season runs until April 3, 2022, ahead of the Playoffs.
