Belarus hammered out an emphatic straight-set victory over Belgium to disappoint the home crowd in Kortrijk on the last day of the second stage of the FIVB Volleyball U20 Women’s World Championship. The central European team topped the final standings in Pool H and will move on to the third foursome of the tournament along with pool runners-up Egypt, as well as Turkey and Argentina from Pool G.

Belarus were well in control throughout the match. They tallied a fantastic 16 aces against only three for Belgium, which made a big difference towards the victory. But so did the spiking (36 kills against 21) and the unforced error points (20 against seven).
Middle blocker Darya Burak impressed with six aces towards the match high of 13 points for the winning team. Her teammate Kseniya Liabiodkina added another four direct serving points to tally a total of 11 points, while opposite Darya Vakulka finished with 12. On the Belgian side, Dauke Vreys was the most prolific player with 10 points.
“We are very happy with the result. The individual error load today was less which allowed us to achieve a consistent level,” Burak said.
