The FIVB Beach Volleyball Under 18 World Championship will get underway on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar with over 50 nations vying for supremacy at the Al Gharafa Beach Courts.
This is the first FIVB Beach Volleyball U18 World Championship in more than 20 years and it’s the first time that the competition is being hosted in the Middle East.
A total of 32 boys’ pairs and 32 girls’ duos drawn from 55 countries will vie for the medals from 7 to 11 October.
Brazil are the most successful nation in the age group on the girls’ side, having celebrated four titles, followed by Germany, with three. Among the boys, Poland have the most victories, with five, followed by Brazil and Germany, with three each.
Brazil will have a strong team with the reigning South American girls champions, Isabela Sallaberry Cavalcanti and Ana Beatriz Sanches Francelino and boys champions, Thomas Mathias Endler and Felippe Prudencio Arruda Barbiero, all in the main draw in Doha to contest for the world title.
