Ismailia was founded when the Suez Canal open in 1869. It is one of the most recent cities established in the country. The city is situated in north eastern Egypt, on the west bank of the Canal of Suez. Considered as one of the most charming and beautiful cities in Egypt, the city can pride itself with several gardens as well as clean and well-organised streets, with a certain European feel.
