Drews with 33 leads USA comeback for VNL gold

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 7, 2019 - Andrea Drews wrapped up the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League with yet more scoring for the record books, bagging 33 points in the final of the competition to spearhead USA's comeback from two sets for a 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13) win and back-to-back VNL titles Sunday in Nanjing.

Drews got in 22 kills with her attacking for a 54% (32/59) efficiency and added one more point with a block.

The 25-year-old becomes the second American to make the list of players who have scored 30 points or more in a VNL match.

Just two days earlier Jordan Thompson had scored also 33 points and also against Brazil in Final Six pool play leading USA to a four-set win.

It was the second 30+ scoring performance of the day, after Turkey's Ebrar Karakurt brought in 31 points in her side's defeat to China in four sets in the bronze medal match.
