The beginning of Thales in volleyball was with nine years old in his
school under the influence of his older brother, Jonathas, that already was a
player. In 2006 he was called for the state national team and later received
the call for the youth national team. It was his first time in the Brazilian
Center of Volleyball Development in Saquarema. This year (2006) he was Youth
South American Champion and received the awards of best libero, digger and
receiver with 17 years old. With 18
years he played his first Superliga with Online from the city of São Leopoldo.
He did the four years of juvenile when he was U21 FIVB World Champion under the
leadership of the head coach Percy Oncken. In Superliga, he achieved the third
place of Superliga with Sada Cruzeiro in the season 08/09 and was champion with
Cimed in 09/10. He was called for the first time this year for the national
team that will play the FIVB World League and was in the campaign of the gold medal
at the South American Games and in the Grand Champions Cup. In 2018, he achieved the silver medal in
the FIVB World Championship.
