Russia and Poland to open VNL Men's Finals

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 26, 2018 – After five weeks of preliminary round matches, a classic European rivalry will be played out when Russia and Poland open the FIVB Volleyball Nations League Men’s Finals at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille, France on July 4.


The second-ranked Russians claimed 11 victories, while the sixth-ranked Polish team earned 10 victories out of 15 matches in the preliminary round. The two rivals will face each other in Pool B at 18.00 local time.

Hosts France claimed top spot in the preliminary round with 12 victories, and will take on Olympic champions Brazil in Pool A at 20.45.

The final round will continue on June 5 with matches between USA and Poland in Pool B, and Serbia and Brazil in Pool A and on July 6 with matches between Russia and USA (Pool B), and France and Serbia (Pool A). They will decide which teams advance to the semifinals on July 7.

The finals will be played on July 8, with the bronze medal match to take place first, starting at 17:00, and the inaugural Volleyball Nations Winners to be declared after the gold medal match scheduled at 20.45.
