Australia v USA and Norway v ROC for Tokyo gold

Australia’s Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Taliqua Clancy will take on USA’s April Ross and Alix Klineman for the Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 women’s beach volleyball tournament on Friday. After Thursday’s straight-set semifinal wins over Latvia’s Tina Graudina and Anastasija Kravcenoka and Switzerland’s Anouk Verge-Depre and Joana Heidrich, respectively, they have secured Australia’s third and USA’s seventh medal in Olympic women’s beach volleyball history.

Anders Mol and Christian Sorum reserved the first place in Saturday’s men’s gold medal match, securing Norway’s first ever Olympic medal in the sport after a straight-set win over Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Edgars Tocs in Thursday evening’s first semifinal. In the final, the Norwegians will be challenged by ROC’s Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy. After shutting out Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan in the late semifinal, they are now one win away from adding the Olympic title to the title of world champions they have been holding since 2019.
