Warsaw to host 1-Star Beach Volleyball World Tour event in September

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) has confirmed the addition of a men’s 1-star event in Warsaw, Poland on 2-5 September to the FIVB World Tour 2021 calendar.

While Poland’s love for volleyball is well-known, beach volleyball is also incredibly popular in the country. In fact, Poland hosted the very successful 2013 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Stare Jablonki. Moreover, Poland’s national teams have achieved great success in the sport and are a force to be reckoned with in both age group and senior events.

Organisers of the one-star event in September will hope to draw the attention of beach volleyball fans, passers-by and tourists as the tournament will be hosted in an iconic location in downtown Warsaw. Back in 2019, Warsaw hosted a 4-star tournament with Brazilian superstars Evandro Goncalves/Bruno Oscar Schmidt and Ana Patricia Ramos/Rebecca Cavalcanti claiming top honours.

With the addition of the Warsaw event, Europe is set to host as many as 14 World Tour 1 and 2-star events throughout the summer of 2021 across a diverse range of countries, such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Ukraine.
