Hovmann and Stormly storm into Ruvabu main draw

Rubavu, Rwanda, August 21, 2019 – Denmark’s Nicolai Hovmann Overgaard and Jacob Cordua Stormly played the lone match in the qualification round on Wednesday to secure a spot in the main draw of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Rubavu 1-star men’s tournament.

The Danes grabbed the last available spot in the main draw after making a quick run in the second round of qualification with a 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) win over Japan’s Masashi Ogawa and Rui Tadano. The Danish pair played determined and swift after getting a bye on the first round.

Their regional neighbours from Norway – Kjetil Tellnes/Ragnar Marius Iversen and Stian Opsahl/Emil Ofstaas
– took an easier path to the main draw, receiving double byes in the qualification tournament, together with Japan’s Kensuke Shoji and Masato Kurasaka.
