Miguel Pereira looking ahead to event from August 8-11

 
Miguel Pereira, Brazil, August 5,  2019 - After the success of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event in Miguel Pereira in 2018, the city in the state of Rio de Janeiro will host a second stop on the international calendar from August 8-11 with main court capacity increased to 3,000 places.

The teams registered to participate in the event include pairs from 11 countries, including Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Mozambique, Norway, USA and Venezuela and some experienced players like Harley Marques of Brazil and his current partner Luciano Ferreira, who won the trophy in 2018 with another partner Vinicius Rezende Costa Freitas.

Teams to look out for in the women's tournament include Brazil's Taina Silva Bigi and Victoria Lopes Pereira Tosta, bronze medallists at the Miguel Pereira Open in 2018. The tournament will also feature Carol Horta and Angela Lavalle, a Brazilian team which participated in the Pan American Games at Lima, who are likely to participate in the battle for the medals.

Seven partnerships will attempt to qualify for the main draw in the men’s tournament. Two pairs hail from across the Atlantic: Italians Matteo Cecchini/Matteo Ingrosso and Mozambicans Carlos Acacio/Justino Tovela, and another two are Canadian teams – Mitchell Neuert/Roland Bouchard and Bassem Ben Hassouna/Aaron Lerner - who will challenge three local partnerships.

Also featured are 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship winners twins Renato and Rafael Carvalho, as well as Brazilian teams Averaldo da Silva/Bruno de Paula and Matheus Maia/Eduardo Rocha.
