Daria Romaniuk and partner Tetiana Lazarenko are undefeated in their first two matches in Adelaide

The second day of matches of the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship started with two Ukrainian duos emerging among the first teams qualified for the elimination rounds of the women's tournament in Adelaide.

After securing their second victories in pool play on Saturday, Tetiana Lazarenko/Daria Romaniuk and Valentyna Davidova/Anhelina Khmil booked their tickets to the next round of the event alongside duos from Brazil and Czechia.

Lazarenko, who earlier this year won the European Championship with Maryna Hladun, and Romaniuk kept their record clean on Saturday, topping Peruvians Claudia Gaona and Lisbeth Allcca 2-0 (21-19, 21-18) and became the first team in Pool A guaranteed to advance - they had topped Paraguay's Michelle Valiente/Giuliana Poletti on Friday.

The second round of Pool A matches will be completed later on Saturday, with Brazilians Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes facing the Paraguayans, and the FIVB World Ranking leaders will also qualify if they get their second victory in Australia.

Pool B, on the other hand, already has one duo from Ukraine and another one from Brazil confirmed in the next round. Davidova and Khmil, who had defeated Dutch Mila Konink and Desy Poiesz in the tie-breaker on Friday, stepped up their game and downed Egyptians Marwa Abdelhady and Nada Hamdy 2-0 (21-5, 21-6) on Saturday to advance.

Brazilian Olympians Carol Salgado and Rebecca Cavalcanti will join the Ukrainians in the elimination rounds - after sweeping the Africans on Friday, they did the same to the Dutch on Saturday, winning 2-0 (21-12, 21-9).

Brazilians and Czechs advance in Pool F

Pool F also completed its second round of matches on Saturday, having duos from Brazil and Czechia claiming the first two spots in the elimination rounds. Olympic champions Eduarda 'Duda' Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos of Brazil booked their tickets after taking down Polish Natalia Okla and Urszula Lunio 2-0 (21-14, 21-19) on Saturday.

Czechs Marie-Sára Štochlová and Markéta Svozilová, who had defeated the Polish on Friday, did the same to Australians Tara Phillips and Kayla Mears on Saturday, triumphing 2-0 (21-11, 21-11) and are also through.

The first session of matches in Adelaide on Saturday also had the first matches in two pools. Pool E started with Latvian Olympians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova beating Mexicans Susana Torres and Atenas Gutierrez 2-0 (21-17, 23-21) and Japanese Asami Shiba and Reika Murakami upsetting Italians Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi to secure a 2-0 (24-22, 21-14) victory in their debut.

Pool H had a promising start to Germany, with Svenja Müller and Cinja Tilmman overcoming Argentines Brenda Churin and Morena Abdala 2-0 (21-18, 21-11) and Louisa Lippmann and Linda Bock also debuting with a 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) victory against Puerto Ricans Maria Gonzales and Allanis Navas.
