Tina dives to pass during the match against the Asians

The first team to reach two victories in Pool E, Latvian Olympians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova joined the group of women's duos qualified for the elimination rounds of the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship on Sunday.

Undefeated after two matches in Adelaide, the Europeans now focus on earning a third positive result in Australia, which will get them a direct spot in the Round of 32 - they will complete their pool play schedule on Monday, against Italians Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi.

Playing for a second-straight day in Adelaide on Sunday, Tina and Anastasija faced Japanese Reika Murakami and Asami Shiba, who had also won in their debut, and triumphed 2-0 (21-18, 21-17).

The other match of the pool had Scampoli and Bianchi overcoming Mexicans Susana Torres and Atenas Gutierrez 2-1 (18-21, 21-12, 15-13). With that, they now share the second place in the pool with the Asians, while the Mexicans accumulate two defeats.

Nuss and Brasher advance in Pool C

Pool C, which also had its second round of matches held on Sunday, has a similar scenario. There, Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher are the only team guaranteed in the elimination rounds - they advanced with a 2-0 (21-11, 21-19) victory over Brazilians Vitória Rodrigues and Hegeile 'Hegê' Almeida.

A few hours later, Dutch Emi van Driel and Wies Bekhuis secured a 2-0 (21-10, 21-16) win over Czechs Martina Maixnerova and Kylie Neuschaeferova. They now have the same campaign as the Brazilians, with one win and one loss, while the Czechs are still winless.

Pool E was the first one to complete its match schedule and determine the final placements of the four teams. Olympic champions Eduarda 'Duda' Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos of Brazil earned a forfeit victory over Czechs Marie-Sára Štochlová and Markéta Svozilová, beating the Europeans for first place - both teams made it to the Round of 32.

Australians Kayla Mears and Tara Phillips defeated Polish Natalia Okla and Urszula Lunio 2-0 (21-18, 23-21) and finished third, eliminating their opponents. They now need to wait until the end of pool play to find out if they will also make it to the Round of 32 or if they need to go through the 'lucky losers' round.
