A few hours later, Dutch Emi van Driel and Wies Bekhuis secured a 2-0 (21-10, 21-16) win over Czechs Martina Maixnerova and Kylie Neuschaeferova. They now have the same campaign as the Brazilians, with one win and one loss, while the Czechs are still winless.
Pool E was the first one to complete its match schedule and determine the final placements of the four teams. Olympic champions Eduarda 'Duda' Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos of Brazil earned a forfeit victory over Czechs Marie-Sára Štochlová and Markéta Svozilová, beating the Europeans for first place - both teams made it to the Round of 32.
Australians Kayla Mears and Tara Phillips defeated Polish Natalia Okla and Urszula Lunio 2-0 (21-18, 23-21) and finished third, eliminating their opponents. They now need to wait until the end of pool play to find out if they will also make it to the Round of 32 or if they need to go through the 'lucky losers' round.
