USA’s Miles Partain & Andrew Benesh will take on Cuba’s Noslen Diaz & Jorge Alayo for an exciting opening of the Olympic beach volleyball action at the foot of the Eiffel Tower at Paris 2024. This men’s Pool D match will start at 14:00 local time (12:00 UTC) on July 27 and will set off a line of 72 men’s and women’s games that will complete the pool stage of the competition with the last fixture scheduled on August 3 at 17:00 (15:00), a women’s Pool D game between Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes & Brandie Wilkerson and Tokyo 2020 Olympic semifinalists Anastasija Samoilova & Tina Graudina of Latvia.

The full match schedule for the pool stage of the Paris 2024 Olympic beach volleyball schedule was released on Thursday, enabling teams and fans alike to start preparing for the exciting battles ahead.

The first competition day’s programme will offer a total of six matches. Six games are also included on the last day of the pool stage programme, August 3, but the first elimination matches, those of the “lucky-loser” round, will also be played that evening. On each day in between, 10 matches will be contested at the Eiffel Tower Stadium in Champ-de-Mars Park, split into three sessions – a morning session starting at 09:00 (07:00) and featuring four games, an afternoon session starting at 15:00 (13:00) and featuring three games, and an evening session starting at 20:00 (18:00) and featuring three games. This widely spread schedule will provide for an almost “non-stop” beach volleyball action at the Olympic courts and allow the sport’s fans globally to find suitable times for enjoying some of their favourite teams in play.

The world’s number one men’s pair, Sweden’s David Ahman & Jonatan Hellvig, will make their Olympic debut right after the July 27 opener, in a Pool A encounter with Australia’s Izac Carracher & Mark Nicolaidis at 15:00 (13:00). Later that day, in the last match of the evening, starting at 23:00 (21:00), Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallists Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan of Qatar will take on Italian standouts Paolo Nicolai & Samuele Cottafava.

Defending Olympic champions Anders Mol & Christian Sorum of Norway will start their Paris 2024 quest on the following day, July 28, at 21:00 (19:00), with a match against Chilean cousins Marco Grimalt & Esteban Grimalt. Four hours earlier, the reigning world champions, Ondrej Perusic & David Schweiner of Czechia, will open their Olympic campaign with a meeting with Canada’s Daniel Dearing & Samuel Schachter.

The representatives of the host nation in the men’s tournament will first appear on the court on July 29. At 16:00 (14:00), Youssef Krou & Arnaud Gauthier-Rat will face USA’s Chase Budinger & Miles Evans. The other French pair, Julien Lyneel & Remi Bassereau, will step in the sand for their first match against Germany’s Clemens Wickler & Nils Ehlers on July 30 at 10:00 (08:00).

The women’s Olympic tournament will also start with an exciting clash right away in its opening game. On July 27, at 18:00 (16:00), Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Taliqua Clancy & Mariafe Artacho Del Solar of Australia will take on Chinese standouts Xue Chen & Xia Xinyi for a Pool B fixture.

FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking leaders Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) & Ana Patricia Ramos of Brazil will get their Olympic campaign underway with a game against Africa’s best team, Marwa Abdelhady & Doaa Elghobashy of Egypt, on July 28 at 16:00 (14:00). Crowned world champions Sara Hughes & Kelly Cheng of the United States will appear on the court six hours later, at 22:00 (20:00), for their opening fixture against Czechia’s Barbora Hermannova & Marie-Sara Stochlova.

Aline Chamereau & Clemence Vieira will be the first to spark home team excitement among the French fans on the stands. They will take to the court on July 28 at 12:00 (10:00) for their opening match against Germany’s Cinja Tillmann & Svenja Muller. The other French duo, Lezana Placette & Alexia Richard, will also start with a clash against a German team. On July 29 at 21:00 (19:00), they will lock horns with the pairing of former Olympic and world champion Laura Ludwig and former international indoor star Louisa Lippmann.

The 24 teams in each gender are split into six single round-robin pools of four for the first competition stage. The six pool winners, the six pool runners-up and the two best ranked third-placed teams will qualify directly to the eighthfinals. The remaining four third-placed teams will move on to a sixteenthfinal round, the so called “lucky loser” playoffs. From then on, it will be single-elimination playoffs that also go through the quarterfinals and the semifinals, and eventually lead to the medal matches at the event’s climax. The beach volleyball battles for Olympic honours will last from July 27 to August 10.
