Against the jaw-dropping backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, thousands of fans from around the world participated in a variety of engaging Volleyball Experiences, ahead of today’s beach volleyball action.

The FIVB and Volleyball Foundation are running groundbreaking Volleyball Experiences at the Olympic Games in Paris, where fans can engage with a host of interactive activities at both the Eiffel Tower Stadium for beach volleyball and the South Paris Arena for volleyball.

On a glorious day in the Paris sunshine, beach volleyball fans of all ages enjoyed access to four sand courts, a 360-degree photobooth for a perfect shot in front of the Eiffel Tower, tests of their reflexes and jump height and more, all with a live DJ adding to the festive atmosphere.

Fun, family-oriented and friendly were just some of the recurrent descriptions used by fans who enjoyed their visit to the Volleyball Experiences ahead of today’s action.

“It is a very good idea,” one fan said. “I think you can go to see a game, do one of those things and see the spirit of beach volleyball. “

“It is an active experience rather than just sitting and watching a game,” another remarked. “You can also try different things out, and all in a good spirit of fun for everyone.”

One of those in attendance at the Volleyball Experiences highlighted the number of families savouring the opportunity to sample beach volleyball before the start of matches.

“It’s good fun. There are lots of families, lots of children, lots of happy people,” they commented.

Another said: “It’s very electric, and especially it’s nice to have the good weather come in today as well. The vibes are exactly what you want going into beach volleyball.”

FIVB Athlete Ambassadors from around the world are helping fans at the Volleyball Experiences throughout Paris 2024 to engage them. One of those is Louise Bawden, an FIVB Athletes’ Commission member, Olympian in both indoor and beach volleyball and three-time Asian Beach Volleyball Championships gold medallist.

She praised the activities available through the initiative.

“The beach volleyball experience is an exciting opportunity for fans attending beach volleyball matches at the Olympics to try the sport for themselves, play with the match ball, test their skill and meet heroes of the game,” Bawden said.

The Volleyball Experiences will remain a popular part of fan attendance at volleyball and beach volleyball matches for the duration of the Olympic Games.
