As the knockout stages at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 beach volleyball tournament continued under the Eiffel Tower, the competition attracting a dazzling array of royalty and honoured guests.

Drawn by glowing reports from his daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, about the magical Eiffel Tower Stadium, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain joined today’s action to cheer on Daniela Alvarez Mendoza & Tania Moreno Matveeva in their quarterfinal. While the Spanish duo lost out to their Canadian opponents, Melissa Humana-Paredes & Brandie Wilkerson, it was a closely contested match under the Parisian sun.

Also adding a touch of royalty to today’s proceedings was His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Norway, Haakon. The Crown Prince joined the enthusiastic crowd in cheering on the Beachvolley Vikings, Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, as they continued their campaign to defend their Olympic title. He was welcomed by Portuguese Volleyball Federation President Vicente Araújo.

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Presnel Kimpembe was also in town to enjoy the beach volleyball vibes, sporting a statement orange bucket hat, where he was greeted by South American Volleyball Confederation President Marco Tullio Teixeira.

Opting for a change of scenery, freestyle ski sensation and double Olympic gold medalist Eileen Gu graced the evening session with her presence. Swapping her usual snowy slopes for the warmer climes, Eileen was welcomed by Portuguese Volleyball Federation President Vicente Araújo.

Yesterday evening, Choi Min-ho, a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter and actor from the Princes of K-pop, SHINee, made a surprise appearance at the Paris 2024 beach volleyball event. The stunning venue, touted as the most Instagrammable spot of the Games, provided the perfect backdrop for Min-ho’s impromptu photo session, much to the delight of fans and fellow spectators.
