As part of the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, significant steps are being taken by the FIVB to enhance beach volleyball; through expanding the Beach Pro Tour (BPT), creating more opportunities for athletes and building a stronger, more sustainable global ecosystem for the sport.

In 2025, the number of teams in the main draw of the BPT at the majority of both the Elite and Challenge stops will increase significantly, granting more athletes the opportunity to compete on the international stage. The Elite category will expand from 16 to 24 teams per gender, while the Challenge category will grow from 24 to 32 teams per gender.

This expansion will see the total number of teams with BPT Elite and Challenge playing opportunities rise from 704 in 2024 to a maximum of 992 in 2025. This 41% increase will help to ensure greater competitiveness and talent development within the competition.

Alongside increased participation, FIVB investment will see the total prize money for beach volleyball competitions in 2025, including the World Championships, Elite and Challenge events, reach an impressive USD 6.75 million.

Within the Beach Pro Tour itself, prize money will rise from USD 5 million in 2024 to almost USD 6 million in 2025. This increase ensures that beach volleyball competitions can continue to attract elite talent and offer long-term viability of a professional beach volleyball career.

The FIVB is also working closely with event organisers to expand the number of Elite and Challenge level events in the 2025 Beach Pro Tour calendar. This effort aligns with the broader goal of providing opportunities for athletes to gain more ranking points, enhance exposure for athletes and sponsors and increase access to the sport for emerging and developing nations.

The FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 focuses on empowering all stakeholders to work together to strengthen and expand the global volleyball ecosystem, guided by the motto “Together as One”. By enhancing competition structures, increasing prize money and strengthening professional pathways, the FIVB is working to do just that!
