Reigning Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos & Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) of Brazil returned to the top 10 of the women’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking for the first time since May. Meanwhile, the American pairing of Kelly Cheng & Molly Shaw, who topped the podium at last week’s Joao Pessoa Elite on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, reached a team’s new high 13th place in the chart, enjoying a spot among the top 20 for the first time along their journey together, while Joao Pessoa bronze medalists Stefan Boermans & Yorick de Groot of the Netherlands returned among the top three in the men’s ranking for the first time since mid July. These were some of the changes in charts that occurred after Monday’s weekly update.

Brazil’s Ana Patricia & Duda celebrate winning the Joao Pessoa Elite bronze
Ana Patricia & Duda had been the world’s number one team for 101 consecutive weeks, or almost two years, between November 2022 and October 2024. However, after skipping many important tournaments following their success at Paris 2024, they lost their leading position and gradually plummeted all the way down to number 57 with just three qualifying tournaments on their record over the previous 365 days. They resumed competing on the Tour in March of this year and started their gradual climb back up the chart. Following their fourth consecutive bronze medal at the Elite level, which they claimed in Joao Pessoa last week, Ana Patricia & Duda finally made back among the top 10, rising four spots up from their 14th place the week before.
This makes it three Brazilian duos in the top 10, along with the two leading teams – number one Thamela Coradello & Victoria Lopes and number two Carol Solberg & Rebecca Cavalcanti – who finished fifth and fourth in Joao Pessoa, respectively.
Another former number one team, Latvia’s Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova, who had been sharing the third place with Italy’s Valentina Gottardi & Reka Orsi Toth, reached the Joao Pessoa quarterfinals and have now stepped up to occupy the third position alone, while Joao Pessoa runners-up Terese Cannon & Megan Kraft of the United States ascended four spots and also surpassed the Italians to number four. Switzerland’s Anouk Verge-Depre & Zoe Verge-Depre, another team with a fifth-place finish in Brazil last week, also gained some ground, rising from number seven to number six. The top 10 is completed by Germany’s Svenja Muller & Cinja Tillmann in number seven, Austria’s Dorina Klinger & Ronja Klinger in number eight, and USA’s Kristen Nuss & Taryn Brasher in number nine.
The pairing of reigning world champion Kelly Cheng with her current partner Molly Shaw topped the podium in Joao Pessoa and jumped as many as 17 positions up to number 13, a new high for the American duo, who are in their first season together and have now accumulated points from six qualifying tournaments.
Stefan Boermans & Yorick de Groot of the Netherlands, who have been on top of the men’s World Ranking for short periods in both 2022 and 2024, earned bronze at the Joao Pessoa Elite and that helped them leap five spots up the chart, from number eight last week to number three this week, right below the two leaders – number one Anders Mol & Christian Sorum of Norway and number two David Ahman & Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden, neither of whom made it past the quarterfinals in Brazil.
The Dutchmen surpassed Argentina’s Nicolas Capogrosso & Tomas Capogrosso, pushing them down to number four, and Sweden’s Jacob Holting Nilsson & Elmer Andersson, pushing them down to number five.
Joao Pessoa gold medalists Evandro Oliveira & Arthur Mariano Lanci of Brazil also moved up within the top 10 of the chart, from number nine to number six, leaving behind Poland’s Michal Bryl & Bartosz Losiak in seventh, Czechia’s Ondrej Perusic & David Schweiner in eighth, Qatar’s Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan in ninth, and Latvia’s Martins Plavins & Kristians Fokerots in 10th.
The 11th place is now for France’s Remi Bassereau & Calvin Aye, who celebrated silver in Joao Pessoa and leapt eight spots up from number 19 to a new high for the pair and for either of its two members, who joined forces after the Paris Olympics.
