Friday’s action will serve off at 11:00 local time (21:00 UTC) with a North American semifinal duel between second-seeded Steven Abrams & Cameron Chadwick of Canada and fifth-seeded Charles Siragusa & Alex Ukkelberg of USA. This is the debut appearance of Abrams & Chadwick on the Beach Pro Tour as a team and they have already decorated it with a top-four finish. While 25-year-old Abrams has already had a silver medal result on the Tour with another partner, for 24-year-old Chadwick, it is the first time in the semis. 27-year-old Siragusa and 31-year-old Ukkelberg are also participating on the Beach Pro Tour together for the first time, but it is the second time in the semifinals for each of them.
The second semifinal will start an hour later and will feature a clash between eighth-seeded Finley Bennett & James Kay of Australia and third-seeded Domonkos Doczi & Akos Veress of Hungary. The 19-year-old Aussies started their Rarotonga run from the qualifications and have so far won four of the five matches played in the Cook Islands, reaching the semifinals of a Beach Pro Tour event for the first time. However, Bennett already had one bronze medal finish with a different teammate. 22-year-old Doczi and 19-year-old Veress are also playing their first Beach Pro Tour event as a duo, but for each of the two Hungarians, it is not the first time to reach the semis. Veress has one fourth-place finish in his career so far, while Doczi has made the final four twice, including once with a gold medal result.
The medal matches will also take place on Friday. The third-place playoff will get underway at 16:00 local time (02:00 UTC on Saturday), and the gold medal showdown will serve off an hour later.
