Upon his very debut on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, 28-year-old Italian Davide Borraccino conquered the gold medal! He and his partner Marco Viscovich topped the podium at the Cervia Futures after overcoming top-seeded compatriots Manuel Alfieri & Alex Ranghieri in Sunday’s men’s final. Domonkos Doczi & Akos Veress won the all-Hungarian third-place match in Italy. Belen Carro & Paula Soria of Spain, Andrea Lorenzova & Mariana Tomasova of Czechia and Swedish qualifiers Selma Robinson & Isabelle Reffel lined up with the medals on the women’s podium.

Third-seeded Italians Marco Viscovich & Davide Borraccino dropped only a set in five matches played in Cervia. In one of the two Italian-Hungarian clashes destiny set up for the semifinals, Viscovich & Borraccino took out fifth-seeded Bence Tari & Lukas Niemeier in straight sets, 2-0 (21-18, 21-17). Facing the bracket-leading pairing of experienced two-time Olympian Alex Ranghieri and his partner Manuel Alfieri in the final did not stop Viscovich & Borracino’s victorious run and they produced a 2-0 (21-19, 21-16) sweep to triumph as Cervia Futures champions. Although four years younger than his new partner, Viscovich has now collected as many as seven Beach Pro Tour medals.

In the other Italian-Hungarian semifinal, Alfieri & Ranghieri squeezed out a hard-fought 2-1 (23-21, 19-21, 15-11) victory over fourth-seeded Domonkos Doczi & Akos Veress to reach the final undefeated. The Cervia silver was the pair’s third Beach Pro Tour medal and first of the season.

22-year-old Doczi and 19-year-old Veress won the all-Hungarian third-place playoff against Tari & Niemeier, both 19 years old, with a 2-1 (18-21, 22-20, 15-10) comeback and collected their third medal out of four appearances on the 2026 Beach Pro Tour so far.

By topping the women’s standings in Cervia, the Spanish pairing of Belen Carro and Paris 2024 Olympian Paula Soria earned their sixth medal and second gold at world-level tournaments together. Previously, they collected one gold and two silvers on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and two silvers on the Beach Pro Tour. They won all five of their matches in Italy. On Sunday, sixth-seeded Carro & Paula put together a 2-0 (21-14, 21-18) semifinal victory over 12th-seeded Selma Robinson & Isabelle Reffel of Sweden, and a 2-0 (21-14, 21-12) upset of Czech bracket leaders Andrea Lorenzova & Mariana Tomasova in the gold medal showdown.

Lorenzova & 20-year-old Tomasova won four games in a row to secure their second straight silver in two appearances on the 2026 Beach Pro Tour. Just last week, the Czech duo took silver at the Apeldoorn Futures too. In their semifinal match in Italy, they achieved a 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) win over fifth-seeded Ziva Javornik & Maja Marolt of Slovenia.

Robinson & Reffel decorated their team’s Beach Pro Tour debut with a beautiful run from the qualifiers to the podium. After winning two qualification matches, the Swedes lost their main draw opener to Javornik & Marolt, but when they met them again in the bronze medal match, they took their revenge with a 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 15-13) victory.

28 men’s and 28 women’s duos representing 25 different countries from all five continents took part in the Cervia Futures.

The next two Futures stops on the Beach Pro Tour will be held in Sveti Vlas, Bulgaria and in Krakow, Poland from June 4 to 7.
