Thâmela and Victoria end the season with Montréal Elite gold

Brazilians Thâmela Coradello and Victoria Lopes had to wait until the last Elite event of the 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour season to celebrate, but they are set to end the year with gold medals around their necks after triumphing in Montréal on Sunday.

The South Americans have now won Beach Pro Tour Elite events in each of their three seasons as partners and have four golds in 25 events - they also won in João Pessoa in 2024 and in Saquarema in Ostava last year.

The 26-year-old Thâmela and Victoria had to work hard to triumph in Montréal on Sunday as they had to produce four comebacks in seven matches to win gold in the Canadian city.

Two of those comebacks happened on Sunday, when the Brazilians, who last lost to home favorites and Olympic medalists Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson in pool play, got back at the Canadians in the semifinals, winning 2-1 (19-21, 22-20, 15-17).

In the final, they started behind again, but bounced back yet another time to overcome Americans Kristen Cruz and Taryn Brasher and triumph 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-12) to take the title.

Ranked second in the FIVB World Ranking, the Brazilians now have ten medals in 25 Beach Pro Tour events as partners - four gold, two silver, four bronze. This season, however, they had only won one bronze in seven events.

"This final was very challenging, especially from a physical standpoint," Thâmela said. "We played three sets in almost every match here, and it was an exhausting tournament for us. But we fought until the end, and I want to congratulate Victoria and our coach Rico because they're both incredible."

Brandie and Melissa take bronze

Canadian stars Brandie and Melissa, who were going for a three-peat in Montréal this week, had to settle for bronze, but were proud of still making it to the podium in front of their home fans after beating Germans Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann 2-1 (20-22, 21-12, 18-16) in the third-place match, which was interrupted and restarted due to weather conditions.

"We have an amazing team here and wanted to stick together and win this for Canada," Brandie said. "We are so proud."

Montréal Elite - Results

The Montréal Elite was the eighth and last tournament in this category on the Beach Pro Tour in 2026. Six more Futures events are scheduled to take place before the end of the season, the next of which will be held simultaneously in Modena, Italy, and Brno, Czechia, next week, from August 27-30.
