Australia’s D'Artagnan Potts & Jack Pearse made it from the qualifications all the way to the top of the men’s podium at the Tlaxcala Challenge on the 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. It was the pair’s second consecutive gold on the Tour, after the Coolangatta Futures trophy in Australia last week, and first ever podium in the Challenge category.

Argentina’s Tomas Capogrosso & Nicolas Capogrosso brought home silver from the tournament in Mexico. It was the team’s fourth Beach Pro Tour medal and it was as silver as the previous three.

USA’s Timothy Brewster & Logan Webber won the Tlaxcala bronze, the duo’s first medal in the Challenge category, and their second overall, after the Pompano Futures gold in 2024.

21st-seeded D'Artagnan Potts & Jack Pearse scored seven wins in a row in Tlaxcala and that impressive tournament run was crowned with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) victory over the third-seeded Capogrosso brothers in Sunday’s gold medal showdown. The first set went even through 13-13, when the Australians broke away to win it by a five-point margin, handing the Argentineans their first set lost in the competition. The second set was even more competitive, with the lead going back and forth several times. After 19-18 Capogrossos’ way, Pearse levelled up with a successful swing and brought in match point with a kill block. An unforced error on the other side of the net closed the match Australia’s way. 22-year-old Potts put away four kill blocks and an ace to lead his team with 18 points. 24-year-old Pearse added 15, including three blocks. 31-year-old Tokyo 2020 Olympian Nicolas Capogrosso was the best scorer of the match with 21 points, including a block. His 23-year-old brother Tomas produced nine points, all in attack.

“I just can’t believe it! I think Jack and I had a pretty good performance. We came through the qualifiers and made it all the way to the final. Even just the semis would’ve been good, but we managed to win that, got to the gold medal match and managed to win that. So, I can’t believe it at all! It’s great!” said Potts right after the final.

“Argentina is an amazing team and we knew we had to play outstanding to beat them,” Pearse added. “Well done, Argentina! You played a great game, but we just knew we had to be really aggressive.”

Before that the bronze medal match produced a three-set battle. 22-seeded Timothy Brewster & Logan Webber came back from a set down to celebrate a 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 15-11) upset of fourth-seeded Australian Olympians Mark Nicolaidis & Izac Carracher. 30-year-old Webber impressed with six kill blocks towards a team-high 22 points, while 25-year-old Brewster added another 18, all in swings. Carracher topped the match chart with 23 points, including three stuffs, while Nicolaidis scored 18 points, including one block, for the Australian side.

The last competition day in Mexico started with the two men’s semifinals. First, Potts & Pearse won the all-Australian clash with Nicolaidis & Carracher in three sets, 2-1 (21-19, 13-21, 15-8). Pearse led the way with 25 points, including two blocks. Potts nailed two aces and three stuffs towards a 17-point total. Carracher’s 22-point tally featured two aces and two kill blocks, while Nicolaidis spiked 19 points.

Tomas chipped in with 11 points, including a serving ace. Webber (four kill blocks) and Brewster scored 17 and nine points, respectively.
